Vision for the project

To demonstrate technology capable of controlling and suppressing bushfire ignitions in deep bushland.

Research

Disposable water glider technology is being scoped for use in early fire suppression. These devices would be cheap to deploy, with disposable electronics and a cardboard airframe. Water gliders may be dropped from low tech vehicles and be able to self-target to the ignition points.  An initial small 2kg prototype has been developed to demonstrate preliminary technology.

The practical challenges in control and suppression of ignitions in deep bushland are also being investigated. A further version of the waterbomb is being  developed, focusing on delivery of the payload (burst and suppression of fire suppressant).
